All countries in the Region have prevalence of high blood pressure over 20%, with country-specific rates from 25% to 50%. Rates among women are almost as high as men in all the countries.

Diabetes mellitus is an important marker of the burden of NCD in a population. It is the leading cause of renal failure in many populations. There is a marked variation in prevalence of diabetes in the Region.
